Well hi! Due to the overwhelming response that I got for my last Blog, I feel obliged to write another one... Ok, half of that was a lie, but I do feel obliged to write again. I like writing, I don't know why. I think it has something to do with the freedom and creativeness which you can use and show through many different genres. I myself prefer a bit of comedy, as opposed to horror. Sometimes, a gripping murder mystery can "grip" me. As long as it is very well laid out, relatively simple to understand, and has a good twist, I will most likely enjoy it.
Sometimes, I will not even have a plan, but I will just start writing out sentences and then an hour, maybe 2, will go by, and I realise that I have created a story, which in all honesty (or arrogance) I think is not too bad.
The funny thing is, I enjoy writing when I do not have a set topic. In my English class last year, we were reading The Old Man and the Sea by Ernest Hemmingway.
At first I thought that it was going to be a really good, gripping novel, because Ernest Hemmingway is supposedly one of the best writers in the 20th century. After a few weeks, I realised that it is not at all good, and my teacher (whose name shall remain as Anon.) managed to prolong the time of the second best group for GCSE English reading the story. She managed to make the story last for over a month, maybe even 2.
Normally, you would think that this isn't that bad. You are mistaken, for The Old Man and the Sea is only 92 pages. After a couple of weeks, I lost my copy of the book, and luckily another English Set had finished it, so I could use one of their copies. I was startled, shocked and appalled when I realised that the D set for GCSE English (supposedly the less gifted set) had finished this book before we did.
For the core subjects at my school, which are English, Mathematics and Science, there are groups. Four different groups, with many different teachers. These are the groups I am in
English - B
Maths - D
Science - C
It frustrated me that the lowest set were working at a faster pace than us. But, of course, you can't say anything, because I'm sure that Anon. would just say 'Tim, I'm doing it for your own benefit.'
Still, it could be worse. I could be dead! Now that really would be frustrating!
Peace, love and may you all live great and wonderful lives.
